When I try to install Windows Internet Explorer 7, the installation wizard finishes. and you receive the following error message: Internet Explorer 7 could not be installed. 0 179.408: Failed to install catalog files. 179.408: Update.exe extended error code = 0xf01e How can I do now? Can anybody help me?

Installed Vista dual boot, think I screwed up!

I don't run vista and haven't seen the problems first hand. "their user folders" won't work. All users need access to the same physical location. I can't install common application files into mydocuments. I can't put the mdf files there. "Program Data" might not work if users can't get into it with explorer.

IE7 in windows vista won't display some secure web sites

:confused: You can't "upgrade" to XP from Vista; it's considered a downgrade so you need to do a clean install. You can still use your upgrade version of XP if you have a Win98/ME retail disk lying around. But - based on your post, I strongly suggest you have a computer professional do this for you.

am running Vista Ultimate with SP1. The SP1 install went fine btw. Since using Vista for over a year I only used Windows Update which works fine and always has. failed to work as they did with me. So assuming something is screwed up on my machine is their a way of correcting things so I can use MS Update?

I also removed the Boot folder on my xp c drive to get rid of the dual boot. Now I can't reinstall my xp64 on the clean drive I get either the blue screen or it tells me to see my system admin. We participate in the Vista BETAs and have been working on this since Vista BETAs have been available to test with. Can you share any details of how you did this? I tried 6.5.x, and of course it doesn't work very well. Was this with the GW7 client that you were able to make it work on Vista? Thanks!

Interestingly enough, Dell doesn't seem to offer 64bit Vista for that machine. Did you have to install the 64bit Vista yourself?
